Spencer turned 8 years old in December and was baptised on Saturday January 5, 2008 in the evening. Alisa's mom and dad came out to see us and to see Spencer get baptised.
We went for a drive on Saturday before the baptism. We went across the Mississippi River into Illinois and toured the Melvin Price Lock & Dam. They take you out to the middle of the river to see the locks up close. It was very cold with ice floating down the river. There weren't any boats that day.
Then we drove up the Mississippi another 10 miles to see the Bald Eagles that come down to winter near St. Louis. We saw about 10 eagles that day.
Then that evening Spencer got baptised and confirmed. There were two boys that got baptised at that time. Spencer's Grandpa Hacking gave a great talk, and his mom and sister sang a great song. It was very nice baptism, and we all felt blessed to be there.
