Yellowstone

Yellowstone National Park Sept. 2008

We went to Yellowstone on our honeymoon way back in September 1985. Twenty three years later we had a chance to go back again and decided to go back for our 2nd honeymoon (well actually probably more like our 15th honeymoon since we've been fortunate enough to take some great trips over the years). I've now been married as long as I've been single (23+23).

We stayed the first night in West Yellowstone, MT in a small "rustic" [old] cabin. We drove around and did a little hiking as well. We tried to see as much as possible and hustled around to see the various view points.

The next night we stayed inside the park at the Canyon Area (in a lots nicer cabin). Unfortunately, over the 23 years I (Rick) have gotten overweight, out of shape, and acclimated to the 400' elevation of St. Louis. I think I got a mild case of altitude sickness and couldn't sleep the second night. I kept hyperventilating and felt really sick. I made my wife (a really good sport) get up in the middle of the night and drive down to lower elevation and slept in the car for a few hours.

We ate dinner at Old Faithful Inn. (Here's the lobby, the dining room and Old faithful).

This trip brought back many great memories from our honeymoon. It might sound corny, but I've grown to love my wife tons more now than I did 23 years ago.

Way to go, you two! I am glad you know what a great gal you married. No one could love you like she does. Looks like a great time.
