We did have a wonderful Christmas with the family. We didn't go out and do anything unusual, time with our family, reading the Christmas story and having the kids discover the real meaning of Christmas. In case there are any small ones reading this, a spoiler is about to occur, so cover the eyes.
Yes, this is the year we got caught! Rick and I really should learn to stay up a little bit later but we like our sleep. So Santa was busy at our house putting out all the gifts when little (big) nine year old feet padded down the stairs and declared he simply couldn't sleep! Yep, Santa was caught like a deer in the headlights. There was no going back, the jig was up! What a bummer! We have enjoyed getting the kids all excited about Santa coming. But this year we learned that Christmas isn't about Santa putting out gifts, it's about the beautiful gift Christ gave us and celebrating His birth.
We did get a little bit of revenge. We hid the Santa bag really good and it took awhile for them to find it!
When I was growing up, Santa always came to our house last and left a few extra gifts hidden in a bag somewhere in the house. They were always the best gifts and well worth the hunt. It is so fun to find more presents one last time before Christmas Day is over.

OOOHHHH! Bummer! Now that Alex knows, Christmas isn't the same! We still have Santa, obviously, for my nephew and next year for our little one, too. I ahte it that everyone has to grow up so soon!
=) Bahhhh haaa haaa! What a story! Sounds like Christmas was still a good one, though. =) My fourth graders are at the age where they start asking and you just have to tell the kids to get focused on their work (instead of talk about whether or not Santa is real) =).
