Who's good at geography?

Elder Jeremy Massey
received his mission call on Friday March 16, 2012

He's going to....

It's in Europe...

The mission name starts with a "B"...

There are three countries in the mission...

The information with his call said it gets to -22 degrees in the winter...

The mission home for his mission is 569 miles from Moscow Russia, 620 miles from Berlin Germany, 414 miles from Warsaw Poland, and...

Answer at the bottom!

Here he is opening his mission call:

He was on the speaker phone with his sister and brother-in-law:

Okay, now back to the geography bee...

His mission home is 0 miles from Riga Latvia. You still don't know where that is do you?

He is going to the "Baltic Mission" which is the three countries of Lithuania, Latvia, and Estonia. He has been called to speak the Latvian Language.

Here's the official map (click to enlarge):

He will enter the MTC [missionary training center] in Provo, UT on May 9, 2012. He needs to buy his cold weather gear before then! He will learn the basics of the Latvian Language at the MTC.

There should be plenty of teaching opportunities for Jeremy in Latvia. The most recent data at
http://www.mormonnewsroom.org/facts-and-statistics/country/latvia/
says the Total Church Membership in all of Latvia is 1,102.

[The same data shows there are 66,071 church members in our home state of Missouri alone, so it will be a different and good experience for him!]

We are so very happy, and so very happy for Jeremy. We are pleased that Jeremy has decided to go on a 2 year mission and know that he will grow tremendously during his mission.

Wish him luck before he goes!!!

Congratulations Jeremy! Lithuania is one of my favorite all time countries. Some of the friendliest people and the most interesting culture of all of the places I have ever visited (65+ countries). You will love it. I know three words in Lithuanian. I will tell you them at Church next Sunday. I don't think that they will do you any good. Rick Tolman
